Who are we?
Peggy & Pip began in 2017 when I began my early years childcare journey. My children were eight, five and one at the time, and I was interested in open ended play and child led learning methods as both a parent and a childcare provider.
I realised that there was a lack of diversity and inclusion within children’s toys. Sure, you could buy books, but I wanted more, I wanted my children to physically play in an inclusive setting, not just read about it.
I started painting dolls for our dolls house. Dolls which had heading aids, wheelchairs, cochlear implants, feeding tubes, eye patches, vitiligo etc. As my childcare presence on social media grew, so did the requests for me to paint other peg dolls!
My youngest child couldn’t say “peg dolls”, instead she would ask for the box of “peggies” and “pip dolls”, hence the name!
